Terms and Conditions of Sales and Shipping
Payment due dates
Invoices are requested to be paid within 30 days. Orders are not shipped out until payment is received unless special arrangements are made. If you are concerned about a particular item selling out, contact Arion Press about creating a plan for a deposit and subsequent monthly payments.
Timing of shipping
General: Orders are generally shipped after receipt of payment – exceptions can be made for institutions. We are a very small staff, so please allow a few working days for us to box up and ship your order. You will be notified by email with tracking* information when your order goes out.
Shipping on a deadline: Please mark on your order, email, or call, if you need your order by a particular date. We will work with you to make arrangements or recommend shipping methods as necessary.
New Releases: Our bookbinders deliver finished books to us in small batches which are then immediately shipped. Paid pre-orders are the first to get shipped out. Orders that have combined shipping or are traveling international may ship a bit later.
Shipping options
Pickup: San Francisco Bay Area: Residents of or visitors to the SF area may opt to pick up orders in person from the Arion facility (map). You will be notified when your order is ready to be picked up. Orders that are not picked up within 90 days of pickup notification may be deemed abandoned and returned to inventory for sale without refund.
Continental US: Orders are shipped via UPS Ground unless special arrangements are made or noted* in the product description. Packages valued at over $850, containing standalone artworks, or containing Deluxe or Variant editions will be shipped with high value liability and signature required.
Outside of the Continental US: Orders for outside the continental US are by default shipped via US Postal Service Priority unless special arrangements are made. We strongly recommend FedEx service for orders over $850, for large size packages, and low-stock/last-chance items; we will contact patrons in those circumstances about shipping recommendations.
Customs Duties and Taxes: Customers are responsible for the payment of applicable customs duties or taxes.
Change of shipping: Should you wish to change the shipping mode or address of your order, please call or email us. Additional fees may be incurred.
Returns
We do our best to describe our products in full with prospectus, webpage, photos, and videos. Requests for exchanges, returns, or refunds must be made within 30 days of an order’s shipping or picked-up date. Unless an item is delivered with a manufacturing error or defect, we do not accept returns. Refunds may be given only after an item has been returned and inspected. Shipping and handling fees are not refundable. Customs duties and taxes are the customer’s responsibility and are not refundable. If your order is lost or damaged in shipping, please contact us at sales@arionpress.com immediately and we will work with you to resolve the issue.
Pre-owned books
Arion will be closing its consignment program at the end of 2021. If you wish to buy or sell pre-owned Arion books, we recommend that you seek your local fine book dealer. In the San Francisco Bay Area, you can try beginning your search with Brick Row Book Shop, John Windle Antiquarian Bookseller, or PBA Galleries.
Discounts
We offer discount pricing to members of our Subscription program and to established book dealers such as those who are members of ABAA or ABA. Please follow arionpress on social media or sign up for newsletters to be notified of special sales.
*Some flat items, such as broadsides, may ship via US Postal Service’s 1st class mail without tracking. Package tracking may be requested for these items and may incur an additional fee.
